SITA (Societe Internationale de Telecommunications Aeronautiques), headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland and founded in 1949 by 11 airlines, is the air transport industry's shared IT and communications provider, owned by roughly 400 airline, airport and industry members rather than outside investors. It reports serving around 2,500 airlines, airports and partners across more than 200 countries and territories, with a presence at over 1,000 airports. Its portfolio spans passenger processing and device management, baggage (WorldTracer and managed baggage messaging), border management, airport and airline operations, aircraft and flight operations (eWAS weather awareness and OptiFlight performance) and emissions reporting through SITA Eco Mission. Group companies include CHAMP Cargosystems for air cargo IT, ASISTIM for outsourced flight operations, Aviareto (a joint venture with the Irish government operating the International Registry of Mobile Assets) and CCM. SITA withdrew from cabin inflight connectivity services in 2023, so it no longer supplies inflight connectivity.
